About Me

Alyssa is a freelance writer, outdoor adventurer, and New Mexico transplant with a restless spirit and an odd obsession for gnomes. When she isn’t cranking out stories on her laptop, you can find her climbing mountains, kayaking rivers, and hiking trails.

Alyssa rarely walks out of her camper without a notepad and pen to jot down travel stories of her adventures and the random encounters along the way.

A graduate of the Matador U Travel  Program, her goal is to discover unexplored niches in all forms of nature and never stop exploring.

  1. Just found your blog. As a fellow Chicagoan I’ve found myself on several adventures gnomish and otherwise. To me the smart gnomer will visit House on the rock in wisconsin and stop by Mount Horeb to visit the ugly trolls.

Seriously though, thanks for all your information on this blog. It’s very good.

    • Hi Christopher,

Thanks SO MUCH for your kind words and for checking out my blog! I have visited House on the Rock a couple times and absolutely love the place. I’m always a bit disappointed that there are no gnomes there though. It seems like they’d fit in there quite wonderfully. My favorite place in Mr. Horeb is the Grumpy Troll Brew Pub…always good for a craft beer and some pizza. I’ve recently relocated to Atlanta and am interested to see if there are any gnomish adventures lurking down here in the south 🙂

      Have a great weekend,
      Alyssa

  2. If you ever are in Shelby County IL you should check out the village of Strasburg. They have a gnome theme for their town. They have gnome nectar from a local winery, the gnome news (community newsletter), gnome themed banners, and a local artist has created a variety of gnome themed items. Strasburg is tiny but if you are ever in the area stop by. https://www.facebook.com/groups/strasburgil/

    • I’ve heard of the gnomes of Strasburg but haven’t been to visit them yet! It sounds like an amazing place and I can’t wait to check it out sometime. Thanks so much for reminding me about it, Linda!
